St. Francis of Assisi Church
Project Details
Project Summary
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is an established parish within an older neighbor-hood in central Bakersfield. In spite of the fact that the church serves a well-established mature neighborhood, the tremendous growth of Bakersfield and the slow growth of new parishes in the area have caused the congregation to grow steadily. This growth has strained the resources of this landlocked facility and also put a strain on existing facilities in a number of ways.
Ordiz-Melby Architects has been working with the parish for several years to help them weigh their limited options for maintenance planning, existing space utilization, and potential growth. When adjacent properties become available, church leaders have to analyze its potential value to the parish and act quickly. By being aware of their options beforehand, they are able to make good decisions for their congregations.
