Mr. Melby (Bill) retired from active participation in the firm in January of 2021. As Principal Emeritus, he is still available for project-related advice and as a consultant when his expertise is needed.
Before his retirement Mr. Melby was a major contributor to the field of educational and institutional architecture in Central California for over thirty years. He has been instrumental in shaping the planning and designs of several major projects including four major comprehensive high schools, an award-winning childcare facility, and numerous school campuses and master plans. He has been the principal-in-charge at Ordiz-Melby for over 300 diverse educational and institutional architectural projects.
Mr. Melby has always been interested in helping others. From the beginning of Ordiz-Melby Architects, Bill has been an active volunteer in disaster assistance work, including a deployment to New Orleans after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Mr. Melby has been selected by his peers to continue to serve as the American Institute of Architects California State Disaster Assistance Network Chair and is a member of National AIA’s Disaster Assistance committee. He also remains involved with the Golden Empire Gleaners food bank, which he has been actively contributing to since their founding over thirty years ago.
Mr. Melby continues to be available to our management to help when and where needed.
